hastelloy B alloy performance of hot working, cold working, heat treatment and welding

A thermal processing
HastelloyB alloy can be hot-processed and deformed, but the deformation resistance is large and the deformation temperature range is narrow. The hot working temperature of this alloy is preferably 1000~1200 °C.
B Cold working
The solid solution Hastelloy B alloy has good cold working plasticity and cold forming properties. When cold rolling is performed, the total deformation per roll can reach 80%. The cold work deformation can strengthen the alloy.Cold forming performance is also good, except that more deformation force and multiple intermediate annealing are required in cold forming, and heat treatment is required after cold forming to obtain optimum performance.
C heat treatment
The Hastelloy B alloy, whether deformed or cast, is generally used in a solid solution state, which gives the alloy a good fit for optimum corrosion resistance and toughness. The suitable solution treatment temperature of the alloy is 1150~1170 °C, and it is cooled as soon as possible after heating and heat preservation (water
Quenching, thin section materials can also be used for rapid air cooling. The intermediate annealing temperature of cold working is 1000 ~ 1100 °C, which can restore the plastic toughness of the alloy to the subsequent processing. The recrystallization temperature of this alloy is 950 -1100 ° C.
D welding
Hastelloy B alloy has good weldability and is similar to general Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel. It can be welded by general welding methods, including TIG, MIG, manual arc welding and resistance welding. It is not advisable to use welding methods and processes that can lead to carbon addition. Because the coefficient of linear expansion and temperature of this alloy is quite different from that of ordinary non-alloyed steel, and the thermal conductivity is only one quarter of that of ordinary carbon steel, when it is welded with carbon steel, etc. The differences should be fully considered. The filling metal component for welding is the same as the base material. In order to ensure the corrosion resistance of the weldment in harsh media such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, it should be solution treated after welding.
